In collaboration with the Counselling Section of the Amasaman Senior High Technical School (AMASTECH), the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) organized a career day for students of the Amasaman Senior High Technical School on Thursday, 9th June 2022 at the campus of AMASTECH.
The career day was part of plans of the Recruitment Team of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) to prep final year students of Senior High and Technical Schools in for the world of work and guide them on their future programmes of study at the University.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Admissions and Recruitment at GCTU, Kwame Owusu Afram, charged the students to start thinking about their careers and to study hard towards it (obtaining a minimum of Grade C6 in all subjects at the impending WASSCE).
He drew the student’s attention to the fact that today’s jobs and businesses are competed at the global level hence there should be a shift from thinking local to preparing oneself for the global market. He introduced the Ghana Communication Technology University and its programmes to the students.
Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) is established by the Ghana Communication Technology University Act, 2020 (Act 1022) as a tertiary education institution with the aim of providing a viable centre for higher education in information and communication technology and to undertake research in various disciplines. The University aspires to be a world class university promoting scholarship, innovative research, cutting-edge technology, entrepreneurship and developing outstanding students and staff for national and global development.
The University, which is located at Tesano in Accra, currently has three Faculties: Faculty of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering and a Business School and are recruiting students into the following programmes:

– Bachelor of Science, Information Systems
– Bachelor of Science, Computer Science
– Bachelor of Science, Mobile Computing
– Bachelor of Science, Software Engineering
– Bachelor of Science, Computer Engineering
– Bachelor of Science, Telecommunications Engineering
– Bachelor of Science, Electricals and Electronics Engineering
– Bachelor of Science, Mathematics
– Bachelor of Science, Economics
– Bachelor of Science, Accounting with Computing
– Bachelor of Science, Procurement and Logistics
– Bachelor of Science, Business Administration
The University also has a host of post-Graduate programmes up to the Ph.D. level at the Graduate Studies and Research of the University.
Other Speakers at the event included, Mr. Frank Boateng and Mr. Mutala Mohammed, both Lecturers at the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems, and Mr. Kingsley Kumah, the GCTU Counsellor.
The programme ended with the GCTU Team engaging the AMASTECH students to pray towards the impending WASSCE.
The curtains were drawn down by insightful remarks from the GCTU Recruitment Team.
