Long-distance runners from Ghana and across West Africa are gearing up for the biggest race of the Easter festivities, set for Saturday, April 19, 2025.

More than 500 athletes have confirmed their participation in this year’s race, which has a registration deadline of Thursday, April 17, 2025.

The technical team from the Ghana Mountain and Trail Federation, on Tuesday, inspected the route from Nkawkaw Goil Fuel Station through Obomeng, Mpraeso and to Kwahu Traditional Council’s Office at Bepong.

The GMTF delegation of Mr Clement Smith Danyagri (Warrant Officer) and Flight Sergeant James Koko Normenyo, Vice President and Treasurer, inspected the routes to ensure that they met international standards.

They were accompanied by Coach Bright Attah, the technical director of the Kwahu Mountain Marathon.

To prepare participants for the challenge ahead, a familiarisation tour of the route will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, and technical meetings with coaches before the route tour.

The 2025 edition promises significant improvements and an enhanced experience for both athletes and spectators, building on the successes of previous years and further cementing the Kwahu Mountain Marathon as a major event on Ghana’s athletics calendar.

Meanwhile, the top 20 athletes at this year’s marathon in both the men’s and women’s races would receive cash prizes as well as medals for their accomplishments.
