The February 2 chaos led to the tragic death of one person.

The suspects, identified as Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph, are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

During a search of suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence, police discovered two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. The findings have raised further concerns about the escalation of violence at football matches.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has personally reached out to the family of the deceased and the leadership of Asante Kotoko to extend the Police Service’s condolences. He assured them of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has already assured the public that the government will intensify security at stadiums across the country.

In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has placed all Premier League matches on hold as investigations continue.

A special team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters has been deployed to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in handling the case.

The arrests come as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended all Premier League matches following the incident. The violent clashes have sparked renewed calls for increased security measures at stadiums to protect fans, players, and officials.

The Police Service has urged the public to remain calm and provide any information that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
