Dr. Kuu-ire, who lost to Mr Dery in two attempts in 2016 and 2020 in his parliamentary bid, succeeded in unseating him at his third attempt in the just ended Parliamentary and Presidential elections.

Roger Nifaaryaga reported from the Nandom Constituency that the Nandom Constituency MP-elect, who contested the elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) garnered 13,743 votes out of 24,563 valid votes cast, while Mr Dery, who ran the race on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had 10,706 votes.

Madam Stella Delle, the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) parliamentary candidate in that constituency also had 114 with 24,903 total ballots cast and 342 rejected ballots in the election that was peaceful.

Mr Ambrose served as MP for the Nandom Constituency from 2017 to 2024 after he took over from Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor of the NDC in 2017.

He also served as a Minister of the Interior from 2017 to February 2024.

In the presidential election, the two main contenders, former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s Presidential Candidate and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP had 15,040 and 8,816 votes respectively in the Nandom Constituency.

From the Lambussie Constituency, Joseph Agrace Wiyorbie reported that Professor Titus Kofi Beyuo, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Lambussie constituency snatched the seat from the NPP’s Dr. Bright Bakye Yelviel Baligi in his first attempt to represent the constituency in parliament.

Prof. Beyuo, a former General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), polled 13,551 votes out of 19, 768 valid votes to defeat his closest contender.

Dr. Baligi, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and the parliamentary candidate for the NPP in that constituency, polled 6,079 votes during the election.

Mr Mohammed Imuran of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) also secured 138 votes with a total vote cast of 20,075 and 307 rejected ballots.

In the presidential election, former president John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 14, 484 votes while Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP had 4,593 in the Lambussie Constituency.

Meanwhile, Prof. Beyuo, after securing his victory, commended the electorate for reposing confidence in him to represent them in parliament and pledged to continue to work hard to improve the lives of the people in the constituency.
