The event’s theme will be “Mainstreaming Access to Information and Participation across the Public Sector.”

Fatimatu Abubakar disclosed these when she presented a statement on the implementation of the RTI ACT for the year 2023 to the House on Friday June28.

She underscored several focal areas for the upcoming year, including the launch of an Online Records Management System (ORMS).

This is designed to facilitate the digital application process for RTI requests.

She stated, “This unique platform will transform records management across public institutions, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.”

The ORMS is expected to be operational by the end of this year.

The Ministry also plans to present a Legislative Instrument for the RTI Act to Parliament.

According to the Minister, final consultations are being arranged with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Justice and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Legislature.

Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including Parliament, the RTI Commission, civil society organizations and the staff of the Ministry of Information and the Access to Information Division for their commitment and perseverance.
