Pressure group, Save the Nation for Future Leaders, has made a passionate appeal to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to reject any offer of a vaccine for the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The group expressed concern about the long term heath of Ghanaians in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic that the state has been dealing with since its outbreak in the country.

According to Save the Nation, the needed vaccine can be manufactured in Ghana because the required ingredients to manufacture drugs and vaccine with the efficacy to eliminate the virus are abundant in the country.

In an open letter to the President, President of Save the Nation, Kwadwo Atta Apeakorang appealed to officials of the government who were infected by COVID-19 to come out and tell the public what vaccine or drug they were treated with to recover.

Mr. Atta Apeakorang noted that the election of President Akufo-Addo as Chairman of ECOWAS was not a coincidence but a recognition by African leaders of the greater leadership quality and healing spirit in him.

He said, “Your Excellency, this is the time and season for you to deliver Africans from the deep dark situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“We humbly plead with you not to accept any foreign vaccine for the sake of Africans especially Ghanaians. The time has come for Your Excellency to be a great leader and hero of Africa as your predecessors. i.e. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Kofi Annan, Nelson Mandela, Muammar Muhammad Minyar al-Gaddafi and Haile Selassie and the rest.”

He called on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to advocate for Ghana’s foodstuffs and herbs when they tour the country.

“Educate your party members and supporters to patronize and consume our local foodstuffs and herbs to help boost their immune system and fight against the COVID-19 virus, which nose mask wearing cannot do,” he said.

The group urged the President to order the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Ghana Police Service not allow wearing of nose mask at polling centers on the election day.

The nose mask, they said, would make vigilantes unidentifiable and hence offer them unfettered opportunity to stir trouble that could lead to violence and insecurity during and after the elections.
