For the second time in as many games, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have ended up on the losing side in the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians crumbled late in the second half to lose 2-0 to Kpando Hearts of Lions at the Kpando Stadium to miss out on registering its first win of the new season.
After suffering a shock 1-0 loss to league debutants Basake Holy Stars in the opening round, Hearts of Oak stay winless after conceding in the 83rd and 87th minute respectively.
Nana Kwame Oppong replaced former Ghana Premier League goal king Abdenego Tetteh in the 57th minute and slotted home the opener after receiving a beautiful trivela pass from fellow substitute Kwesi Pong.
Four minutes later, Lions’ Ishmael Addo (not the Hearts legend) scored the game’s second off a pass from former Hearts of Oak forward Kojo Obeng Junior after a brilliant build up from the right side that involved Mustapha Yakubu.
Hearts of Oak wasted several set pieces to miss out on scoring a goal two games into the 2024-2025 season. The Phobians take on Bechem United next at the Accra Stadium on September 21 at 18:00 GMT with head coach Aboubakar Ouattara under immense pressure.
