GSE: Gainers and losers for last week

Four (4) equities at the end of trading session on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) last week – July 29, 2022 – recorded gains in their share prices.

The pack of four gainers was led by New Gold ETF (GLD) – an exchange traded fund sponsored by Absa Capital – with a share price appreciation of 12.91 percent with a positive year-to-date change of 38.82 percent.

At the closing bell last week, GLD’s share price had appreciated to GHS 150.76 pesewas.

Following GLD was MTNGH with a share price appreciation of 0.08 percent and a negative year-to-date change of 18.02 percent.

Access Bank ended last week’s trading session with a share price of GHS 2.55 pesewas and a negative year-to-date change of 19.05 percent.

The remaining equity that recorded gains on the bourse was Trust Bank Gambia Limited.

The equity recorded 0.04 percent gain in share price ending last week’s trading session with a share price of GHS 0.48 pesewas.

Regarding decliners on the local bourse, Societe-Generale Ghana [SOGEGH], GOIL and CAL emerged the bourse’ decliners with -0.11%, -0.02% and -0.01% loss in share prices respectively during last week.

Market activity for the week inched up 78.36 points to close at  2,518.86 points translating into a YTD return of -9.70%.

The GSE  Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) however lost 12.03 points to close at 2,103.58 points translating into a YTD return of -2.24%.

Market capitalization of the GSE, increased by GH¢908.09 million to close the trading week at GH¢64.38billion.

A total of 314,961 shares valued at GH¢3,231,680.95traded during the week.

Compared with the previous trading week, this week’s data  shows an 84.90% decline in volume traded and 73.23% improvement in trade turnover.

NewGold (GLD) accounted for 88.63% of the total  value traded whilst Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the largest volumes traded.
