GSE: The five top traded equities on the local bourse for last week

Equities of MTN, SIC, CAL, Société Generale [SOGEGH] and TOTAL emerged the top five (5) traded stocks on the Ghana Stock Market at the close of trading last week.

Total volume traded on the GSE last week was 10.55 million shares valued at GH¢ 9.57 million compared to the 4.80 million shares valued at GH¢ 4.29 million
which traded the previous week.

The GSE’s market capitalization decreased by GH¢ 39.90 million to close the trading week at GHS 62.24 billion.

MTN closed the week as the most traded stock accounting for 81.73% of total value traded with a traded value of GHS 7.8 million. Total volume traded of the stock at the end of the week also amounted to 8,693,816.

SIC, CAL, and SOGEGH recorded total volume and value traded of 87,232 and GHS 26,032; 1,645,563 and GHS 1,320,900; 11,363 and GHS 13,521 respectively.

TOTAL which was the fifth most traded stock recorded volume and value trade of 86,070 and GHS 352,887 respectively.

Meanwhile, market activity for the week decreased by 3.81 points to close at 2,550.98 translating into a YTD return of -8.55%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also decreased by 6.93 points to close the week at 2,185.64 translating into a YTD return of 1.57%.

Twenty-five (25) equities traded over the week, ending with two (2) gainers and one (1) decliner.

GLD and SIC were the gainers as they gained GH¢0.90 and GH¢0.02 to close at GH¢145.00 and GH¢0.30 respectively whilst CAL was the sole decliner as it lost GH¢0.07 to close at GH¢0.80.
