The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a public notice reminding Ghanaians that the first issuance of the Ghana Card at its 276 Operational District Offices across the country remains free of charge.
The authority has also introduced fees for first-time card issuance at its Premium Centres, as approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana in 2023.
This move aims to streamline the process of obtaining the Ghana Card while ensuring transparency in the fees charged for various services.
The Ghana Card, according to the NIA, will serve as a crucial identification document for citizens, facilitating access to government services and other essential activities.
According to the notice, the approved fees for various services at Premium Centres include GH₵310.00 for first issuance, GH₵125.00 for card replacement, and GH₵420.00 for record updates with card replacement.
The NIA has also outlined charges for other services such as nationality updates, which cost GH₵70.00, and record updates only, which are free at district offices but cost GH₵310.00 at Premium Centres.
