The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP won overwhelmingly in the two-horse race, polling 40,478 of the 59,209 total votes cast.

His sole contender, Mr Rashid Kwesi Entuaful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), could only garner 18,251 votes.

While 480 ballots were rejected, it was observed that 80 people who voted for the presidential candidates failed to vote for the parliamentary candidates.

Mr Albert Asmah, the Returning Officer, declared him winner after long hours of collation at Ajumako Campus of the University of Education, Winneba, sparking spontaneous waves of jubilation across the constituency.

Meanwhile, Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate for the NDC, polled 38,403 votes while Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP got 18,623 of the votes from the 174 polling stations of the constituency.
