Certified Economist, Bernard Oduro Takyi popularly called BOT has observed that a Ministry of Corruption appears to have been established under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration.

This observation, he said, fits in perfectly with the allegation there is a criminal syndicate at the presidency headed by none other than the President himself who goes out of his way to clear his appointees cited in corrupt acts.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo and NPP while in opposition have described former President Mahama as a thief and yet in the auditor general’s report from 2013 to 2017, there is no single year that corruption-related charges have been over GH¢1 billion.

“Under President Akufo-Addo it has gone all the way to GH¢17 billion and so under this government, it looks as if a Ministry of Corruption has been established.”

Speaking on Accra FM 100.5 morning show with Hitman Monday morning, BOT lamented that these corruption-related figures will not change unless Ghanaians vote massively to drive away the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government.

Everything, he said, shows that the government is practically a corruption clearing agent; a ‘tika na fa’ to wit ‘collect your debt’ administration.

He stated that the government appears to be implementing the rejected Agyapa document word for word time and time again in the plot to take control of the country and stressed anybody who controls the resources of the state also controls the minds of the citizenry.

“Which government under the 4th Republic has not done a reshuffle of its ministers? That should tell you the intention of the President”

“I am even tempted to believe some of the ministers bought their positions as head of their various ministries they lead in this ‘collect you debt government.”

According to BOT, President Akufo-Addo is now running the state like a taxi work and pay and so if he appoints a person to head a Ministry, it is like giving the institution free to such appointee whose willingness to be corrupt and send him more money is preferable.

Commenting on the 2021 Audited report of the Ministry of Finance, he stated the Ministry is responsible for the country’s finances and three people who worked there for not more than two years have been paid colossal amounts of monies without justification.

He argued common thieves in the regions who steal fowls get 25 years with hard labour and yet three people who conspired and took GH¢1.1 million cedis (11 billion old cedis) from the state are still walking free.

“If somebody in Sunyani, Takoradi, Koforidua or Tamale steals GH¢5,000, he gets 20 to 30 years jail term but somebody who used the pen to steal 11 billion Ghana cedis has been left off the hook because the President is a ‘collect your debt’ headmaster.”

He argued that the Woyome corruption case cost former President Mahama his presidency in 2016 and yet Labianca, whose case is worse than that of Woyome has been cleared by President Akufo-Addo but Colonel Damoah, the CEPS Commissioner has rather been fired.

According to him, any head of state institution or agency who decides to fight corruption, corruption will fight back and cited Yao Domelevo as an example.

He said, “President Akufo-Addo while in opposition claimed he will come and fight corruption with the Anas Principle; name, shame and jail the corrupt people but today where is Anas,” quizzed?
