Members of the Komfo Anokye Doctors’ Association (KADA) have deferred their intended strike action to Friday, February 4 following an emergency meeting on Monday.

The doctors had threatened to proceed on strike from Tuesday, February 1 to press home their demands for the payment of a car maintenance allowance and a 13-month salary.

But there seemed to have been a meeting between leadership of KADA and the management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as well as representatives of the Ministry of Health as the intended action is put on hold.

The strike action has, therefore, been deferred to Friday, pending another meeting on Thursday for a final decision.

“The decision was taken after a show of some commitment by Hospital Management and the Ministry of Health to end the long-standing
stalemate in the fulfilment of our SIGNED CONDITIONS OF SERVICE in 2019,” a press release signed by KADA Vice Chairman Dr Kwaku Nyame said.

“We hope, as agreed, earlier at the meeting of KADA executives with Hospital Management, that by the end of working hours on THURSDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2021, there will be a clear concise payment schedule.

“We want to assure all and sundry, especially our cherished members, that KADA remains resolute and committed to its mandated cause.”
