Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a hopeful contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidacy has issued a stark warning, promising a political upheaval in the upcoming 2024 general elections if he fails to secure victory in the NPP’s presidential primary.
In a bold declaration, Agyapong stated, “What they are doing presently, in 2024 I will make them dance kpanlogo. It is very painful, but Central Region Executives, you will see what will happen. I tell you that I am a man, I am not a coward, and I have the money to play mischief, and I am telling Chairman Kutin.”
During a radio appearance on Neat 100.9 FM, Agyapong minced no words, emphasizing his resolve to challenge the existing hierarchy within the party’s Central Regional executives.
He targeted Chairman Robert Kutin and other regional officials, vowing a showdown if Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia emerges victorious in the NPP’s presidential primary in the Central Region.
“I want to prove to Chairman Kutin that he is nobody in the Central Region. I will give them a showdown. He and the regional executives, I will give them a showdown,” Agyapong declared.
Agyapong’s threat seemed to stem from his perception that the regional executives owed him for past campaign efforts.
He asserted, “I campaigned for them, and these regional executives are going to pay me. I’ll give them a showdown.”
He went on to challenge Chairman Kutin and the regional executives, stating, “I am daring Chairman Kutin and I am daring the regional executives. I will give them a showdown if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wins in the Central Region. They will see what will happen in 2024. If they are paying money, how much are they paying? It doesn’t matter, I won’t say much.”
Kennedy Agyapong’s strong words have sparked concerns about potential internal divisions within the NPP, adding a new layer of intrigue to the party’s preparations for the critical 2024 elections.
