Aspiring flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has stated he possesses superior capabilities in managing Ghana’s economy compared to other contenders in the party’s leadership race.

During a recent address to delegates in Kintampo East, the Assin Central lawmaker revealed his plans to employ 1000 workers when his steel plant begins operations next month.

He proudly pointed out that he already owns businesses that provide employment to over 7,000 workers, which, in his view, positions him as a more adept manager of the economy.

Ken Agyapong took a subtle swipe at one of his rivals, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.

He proclaimed, “With my steel plant, I am set to employ thousands of workers in this country in the next few months.”

“I have the largest cold store in the entire continent of Africa. As for you [referring to Vice-President Bawumia], the government takes care of your expenses, from your salary to your household staff and security, while you live in government bungalows.”

He added, “But I independently pay 7,158 workers every month in this country. So, between the two of us, who is the better strategist? This is internal politics, and we should avoid mudslinging, but if they attack me, I will respond.”

Kennedy Agyapong’s assertion reflects his confidence in his economic management abilities and aims to solidify his standing among the NPP flagbearer aspirants.

The ongoing party leadership race has seen candidates vying to prove their competence and readiness to steer the nation towards progress and prosperity.
