KGL Group has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of Asanteman with the launch of a state-of-the-art mental health facility in Kumasi.
This landmark initiative, undertaken in honour of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the people of Asanteman, underscores the Group’s dedication to advancing healthcare in Ghana.
The multi-million-dollar facility, set to be completed within 12 months, will be the first of its kind in northern Ghana, offering comprehensive mental health services to address the growing needs within the Ashanti Region.
This initiative, spearheaded by the KGL Foundation, aligns with the Group’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about mental health and provide crucial support across the country.
As an integral part of KGL’s operational footprint, the Ashanti Region will significantly benefit from enhanced mental health resources. The facility is designed not only to serve residents of Kumasi and its environs but also to provide accessible care to surrounding communities, ensuring that individuals struggling with mental health conditions receive the attention and treatment they need.
Speaking on the project, the Executive Chairman of KGL Group emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to mental health awareness and resource development in Ghana. “Mental health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being, and our investment in this facility reflects our dedication to ensuring that individuals receive the necessary support. This project represents a major step towards de-stigmatizing mental health and providing critical care services,” he stated.
KGL Group’s contributions to Asanteman’s development have been significant over the years, and this latest endeavour builds upon previous efforts to support the region.
Alex Dadey, a key figure in the Group’s leadership, stressed the importance of sustained support for Asanteman, especially in light of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s 25-year reign.
“We have always prioritized our commitment to Asanteman, playing a pivotal role in initiatives such as the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin. This mental health facility is another testament to our pledge to uplift the community,” he remarked.
The facility’s construction represents a crucial investment in the socio-economic well-being of the Ashanti Region, ensuring a healthier future for its residents. The initiative also aims to challenge long-standing stigmas surrounding mental health and foster a more inclusive approach to healthcare.
HRH Lady Julia Osei Tutu, speaking on behalf of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, expressed her deep appreciation for KGL Group’s commitment to transformative projects in Ghana.
She emphasized the urgent need for mental health support and lauded the initiative for its potential to revolutionize mental health care in the region.
“Ghana’s mental health sector requires urgent attention. This facility will dramatically improve access to mental health services, and I extend my gratitude to Alex Dadey and Elliot Dadey for their immense contribution to this cause,” she said.
Beyond this mental health facility, Alex Apau Dadey has led numerous public-private partnerships through the KGL Foundation, supporting healthcare facilities across Ghana. His work includes the free supply of incubators and medical devices, as well as ensuring sustainable primary healthcare financing for orphans, widows, and destitute children.
