Following the production of brown sugar by the Komenda Sugar Factory, it is expected that the NDC will begin a series of propaganda to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians.

It’s because of this that we have released this press to disseminate the actual facts about the factory. We want the New Patriotic Party and Ghanaians to note the following:

Presidential Kufuor, echoes from the past

From scrutiny to siege: An open letter to the Vice-President

UNDER NDC

1. The Komenda Sugar Factory was commissioned by John Mahama on May 31st, 2016.

2. It was then closed down for maintenance two days after on June 2nd, 2016.

3. The factory was said to have employed over 7,000 workers by the JM, NDC and Captain Smart, who was then at Adom FM.

4. It was said that the government had awarded a contract for the construction of the road from Komenda junction to Komenda township.

5. The impression was created that the factory was completed and had produced sugar

UNDER NPP

6. The purported maintenance of the factory was a scam and only exposes the lies and propaganda of the NDC. The Factory was never completed to have even qualified for maintenance.

7. The commissioning of the factory was just done to ignite votes even when it was not completed. No factory is commissioned and closed for maintenance two days after.

8. The assertion by some journalists, particularly Mr. Captain Smart, that factory was working and had employed workers was false because the factory did not begin any sugar production.

9. The supposed contract to construct Komenda Junction to Komenda Road was deceitful as checks from the government and other agencies in charge of roads show no contract was signed for the construction of the road in 2016. As we speak, the same road is under proper construction.

10. The impression created that the factory was completed and that it produced sugar was a falsehood and a document available to us dated 10th October, 2017 from PWC showed that the factory, as at the time it was commissioned on May 31st, 2016, was not completed and could not have produced any sugar. The following is an indication to show:

a. At the evaporation and boiling plant, the melt extraction pump was not installed as of May 31st, 2016.

b. There was no machine or equipment installed at the mechanical shop.

c. As of May 31st, 2016, the laboratory was virtually empty because approximately 99% of the equipment had not been installed.

d. The report also captures a whole lot of departments that were virtually empty as at May 31st, 2016.

The above explanation has documents to back it and can be provided when requested. We want to let Ghanaians know that the factory did not produce any sugar as it could not have produced any since the actual equipments and machines to run the process for the production of sugar was not installed. At least Ghanaians have seen the actual production of brown sugar by the current factory while waiting for the actual production of the white one in ten (10) days’ time, according to the management of the factory.

This shows that the NPP cares for Ghanaians more than the NDC and is real to the Ghanaian people with regards to the country’s happenings, even when it will have an impact on them in elections. We shall continue to propagate the good works of the NPP for a better and prosperous Ghana.

signed.
