Our football system is dead. It was on some kind of life support in the days of Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Most football enthusiasts are tempted to apportion blame on Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposé but I beg to differ. Our football system died because we lost the fundamentals of our beautiful game.

In the days of Mr. Ben Coffie, colts football was the deal, there was not an abundance of agency players but real talent. The Tema and Accra Colts Leagues were competitive. Harrison Afful, Gladson Awako, and David Ackam were all products of this league.

Today, we as a nation are not grooming talents but rather grooming players from agencies owned by Kurt E. S. Okraku and his surrogates.

We (Nation) have to build a strong Colts Football System: building an active Colts football system involves various aspects of team management, player development, and game strategies.

  1. Establish a Clear Vision: Define the way you want the team to play, the culture you want to develop, and the goals you want to achieve. This vision will guide all decision-making processes.

  2. Hire a Skilled Coaching Staff: Assemble a coaching team consisting of experienced and knowledgeable individuals who align with your coaching philosophy. Look for coaches with expertise in areas such as offense, defense, and special teams.

  3. Invest in Talent Acquisition: Develop a systematic approach for recruiting and drafting players who fit your team’s culture and playing style. Consider collaborating closely with scouts to identify players who possess the required skills, athleticism, and character traits.

  4. Foster Player Development: Implement a comprehensive player development program that includes strength and conditioning, skills training, film study, and mental preparation. Provide resources for continuous improvements, such as elite coaching staff, cutting-edge technology, and personalized feedback.

  5. Emphasize Team Chemistry: Encourage team spirit and camaraderie through team-building activities, communication exercises, and shared goals. Foster an inclusive environment where every player feels valued and respected.

  6. Develop Competitive Game Plans: Work closely with the coaching staff to develop game plans tailored to specific opponents. Analyze opponents’ strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies to exploit opportunities and neutralize threats. Create an adaptive system that can adjust strategies based on in-game situations.

  7. Embrace Innovative Tactics: Encourage the coaching staff to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and strategies in football. Embrace innovative approaches on both offense and defense to keep the team competitive and unpredictable.

  8. Focus on Player Health and Injury Prevention: Prioritize the well-being of your players by implementing a robust sports medicine program. Utilize the latest research, technology, and medical staff to minimize injuries and ensure players’ long-term health.

  9. Establish Effective Communication Channels: Implement a strong communication structure within your organization. Foster open lines of communication between players, coaches, and the front office to ensure alignment and address any potential issues promptly.

  10. Continuously Evaluate and Improve: Regularly review the team’s performance and identify areas for improvement. Analyze statistics, watch game footage, and seek feedback from players and coaches. Implement changes to refine the system and capitalize on strengths.

Remember, building an active Colts football system requires dedication, consistency, and patience. It’s essential to adapt and evolve to stay competitive in the ever-changing landscape of professional football.
