Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can win the 2024 elections if stakeholders in the constituencies and regions throw away their egos.

“If we want to win the next elections, MCEs, Constituency Executives, MPs and other party executives must throw away their egos. We must ensure that we maintain cordial relations with party members, listen to their concerns and help out when we can, and I tell you that we shall succeed” he stated.

He also highlighted the causal factors of challenges the economy is facing, citing the negative effects of COVID-19, which he said has changed the course of the global economy.

The Effutu Member of Parliament also talked about the dire effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Iron rods have had their prices gone up. We import iron rods from Ukraine and they are fighting. Importers have had to look elsewhere and at higher costs to import iron rods. The prices will definitely go up” he said.

“Even the advanced countries have not been able to contain these shocks from COVID-19 and the Russian/Ukrainian conflict. Everybody is going through hardships because of these two major events” he emphasized.

The Honourable Member of Parliament made these remarks in an interview with Omahene Kwabena Asante on Adom TV’s Badwam show on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
