According to Mr. Apeakorang the country must “rather accept a budget for local food products and herbs to manufacture our own vaccine for local consumption.”

This was contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin dated 9th February, 2021.

The Save The Nation For Future Leaders President tasked the House to “hold on with the budget of importation of Foreign Vaccine which might cost the Nation millions of Dollars”.

He said “We therefore plead with you Honourable Speaker to give the president of Save The Nation For Future Leaders the privilege at the floor of parliament to explain the main reason why Ghana don’t need foreign vaccine but rather our own local herbs and foodstuff.”

In the view of the statement, time is up for                               Ghanaians to know the efficacy of our local herbs and how powerful they are “which can treat, cure and eliminate some diseases including COVID-19.”

“This is the time for Africa to heal the world through our local herbs and food product, COVID-19 Vaccine is here in Africa, Ghana to be precise”, Mr. Apeakorang further argued.

While congratulating Mr. Bagbin for his election  as Speaker the statement believes that the Vaccine can be manufactured in Ghana because “we have the required materials which contains all the essential nutrient needed by the body to help boost our immune system and help the red blood cells to fight against diseases including COVID-19.”

Mr. Apeakorang is sure time has come for Africa to find a solution for a pandemic which is fighting against nations worldwide.

It may be recalled that President Akufo-Addo in his last Sunday night updates to the nation dropped hints of steps to secure a vaccine.

He indicated that the country is expected to receive its first consignment of the vaccines in March 2021.

“..we are hopeful that, by the end of June, a total of 17.6 million vaccine doses would have been procured for the Ghanaian people,” he said January 31, 2021.

However, the latest update on the UN-led COVAX Facility, of which Ghana is a participant has revealed that the country is earmarked to take delivery of 2.4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine which is licensed to the Serum Institute of India (AZ/SII).

Ghana is among 145 counties listed to receive vaccines from a number of suppliers through the COVAX Facility according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).
