LIVING POSITIVELY
Scripture Reading: Matthew 6
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25
The Lord wants us to live our lives positively. He does not want us facing each day with fear and dread. He is not only our Saviour but also our burden-bearer. God wants you to have a much better life – one that you enjoy! God will give you the ability to enjoy life, no matter the circumstances you face.
We learn from Jesus’ words in today’s passage to be appreciative of the gift of life and the numerous benefits God gives us with it. We may not have all we desire, but we can enjoy life in spite of what we don’t have.
Here’s how you can enjoy your life:
• Notice God’s gifts and thank Him for them. Make it a daily practice to thank God for each new day when you wake up from bed. Throughout the day, keep your mind on the good things in your life for which you’re grateful. Don’t forget to acknowledge basic blessings, such as your ability to breathe, eat or smile.
• Turn your worries into prayers. Whenever a worry enters your mind, find a promise of God that responds to it and turn it into a prayer point. Know that worry can’t accomplish anything good, but faith in the Lord has great power, since nothing is impossible with God. Be specific as you share your concerns with God and trust Him to answer your prayers in the right way at the right time.
*• Look for fulfillment in the right place.* Our help comes from the Lord. He is the God of our salvation. Stop looking for true and lasting satisfaction in the wrong places, such as through your work, personal pleasure, or accumulation of knowledge or material possessions. Realize that only God can provide the fulfillment you seek. Make a strong relationship with Him your top priority.
Overflow with thanksgiving, turn to the Lord with your needs, and find rest in Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I refuse to be worried and anxious. I step out today fully confident in your goodness to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
