LIVING WORD DEVOTIONAL

By Pastor Mensa Otabil

Wednesday 19th January 2022

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 9

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

God is unlimited in power. He can and is willing to do great things for us if we can trust Him in faith. This is summarized in the first few words of today’s passage, that “God is able.” He is capable of doing all things.

God’s ability is demonstrated to us in various ways:

• God extends His grace to us. God’s grace is His ability extended to us. He demonstrates His grace to us in many ways. Our passage speaks of “all grace”. That means we can experience the grace of God is so many ways. His grace saves us from sin when we turn our hearts to Him in repentance. However, that is not the only way we experience God’s grace. God’s grace heals us, leads us and prospers the work of our hands.

• God’s grace makes us sufficient. God’s grace makes us capable. He supplies us with what we lack. Where we fall short, grace from above lifts us up. The Apostle Paul noted that because of the grace of God, when he was weak, he experienced strength. That same grace that made Paul feel sufficient for the work he was committed to, also makes us sufficient for our assignment. Anytime we feel weak and inadequate, we must yield to the help that comes from the Lord.

• God gives to us abundantly. God’s grace makes us full to the overflow. God does not experience shortages in His supply chain. Each day, He gives us a portion of His supply and continues giving us till our cup overflows. Because of that, we can confidently face each day with a firm assurance that the Lord has laid something in store for us. Just as little trickles of water make a mighty river, so God’s daily supplies leads to abundance in all areas of our lives.

When we put our trust in God and depend on Him, we are safe and secure because He will never fail us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, your grace is my sufficiency. I receive abundance from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
