The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of Accra 2023 has had an engagement with the top echelons of the Trades Union Congress in Accra.
The aim of the engagement was to inform the powerful labour force about the preparation of the Committee to host 55 countries in Accra, come next year in March.
The engagement was led by the Executive Chairman of the LOC, Dr. Kweku Ofosu Asare.
He thanked the TUC for the opportunity and its readiness to collaborate with LOC to help in the hosting of the Games.
He appealed to Ghanaians to assist the Committee with ideas, thoughts, and suggestions to make the Games successful.
He assured that all was ready to host the Games as the Government had approved the budget for the Games.
He assured the forum that the Committee that he chairs would ensure transparency in all its dealings: during, pre and post the Games.
Dr. Asare also pleaded with the Workers Group to help publicize the Games.
He briefed them on the preparation, investments, purpose of the Games, benefits to be derived from the Games, infrastructure being put up by the State, and the roles of the Executive, Legislature and federation.
The Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress, Dr Yaw Baah, thanked the LOC for the briefing and expressed the readiness of his organization to cooperate with the LOC to achieve its objectives.
Present at the forum were Mr Reks Brobby, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, and Ahmed Osumanu Halid, a member of LOC and head of the Security Portfolio of the Committee.
The TUC was represented by the top brass of the Workforce.
