Madam Amma Frimpomaa, a Lawyer and New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Sunyani West, has urged the delegates to choose a candidate based on his or her conscience and love for the Party.
She said the over 1,000 delegates held the aspirations of more than 73,000 registered voters in the constituency, who were yearning for a change of their Member of Parliament (MP).
It was, therefore, the responsibility of the delegates to bring about the desired change and expressed the hope that they would heed the plea of the constituents.
The other two aspirants for the Party’s Election 2024 parliamentary slot are Mr Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey and Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the incumbent MP.
Madam Frimpomaa, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, said though President Akufo-Addo won by a large margin in the 2020 presidential election, the votes in parliamentary election reduced, indicating that the constituents were tired of the MP and not the NPP.
She said there was an aspirant who resigned after the Party’s primary and went independent in 2020, saying the addition of his votes to the NPP’s parliamentary results could still not match the votes obtained by the President.
She said the Party did not require any research to confirm the decline in votes, adding that “the only research needed was to listen to the voters who wished for a change of the MP.”
