Madam Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Member of Parliament-elect for the Shai-Osudoku Constituency, says the area will see massive developments under President-elect, John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.

Elected on the ticket of the NDC, for the third consecutive time, Madam Ocloo said the constituency had struggled for development in the last eight years with regard to road network, agriculture, tourism and job creation.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the MP-elect said the era of struggles and despair was over with John Dramani Mahama to take over the affairs of the nation.

The Constituency has a road network totaling about 306km. It has one first class road which links Tema through Afienya to Akosombo. The constituency has six second class roads and about 28 feeder roads.

“Most of the feeder roads are not motorable, especially during the raining season, it is disastrous. I used the Asutuare Junction road to Osuwem and it was terrible. Due to the poor nature of the roads, vehicles have no option than to run at a tortoise speed, thus, exposing travellers to armed robbery attacks,” a resident said.

Madam Ocloo said: “With President Mahama on my side, I can assure you that all roads within the Shai-Osudoku will be constructed. About 99.9 per cent of the development in the constituency was done by the NDC.”

“Now that President Mahama has won the 2024 December election, I can assure you that there’s going to be a massive development and the people will see progress,” she said.

Madam Ocloo won the constituency seat with 28, 944 votes, representing 67.62 per cent of the total valid votes whilst her main contender, Benjamin Nargeh, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 11,950 votes, representing 28.20 per cent of total valid votes.

The Shai-Osudoku Constituency in the just ended December 7 polls had 146 polling stations and 71,951 registered voters. However, the total votes cast were 42, 798, rejected ballots were 430 and the total valid votes were 42,368.

On the presidential results for the Constituency, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia of the NPP polled 7,714 votes, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 33,744, Christian Kwabena Andrews of GUM polled 63 votes and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen polled 48 votes.

John Dramani Mahama won in the constituency with 80.29 per cent against Dr Mahamadu Bawumia who had 18.35 per cent. Christian Kwabena Andrews also had 0.14 per cent and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen had 0.11 per cent.

The total votes cast were 42, 887, the rejected votes are 861 and the total valid votes cast were 42,026
