Former President John Dramani Mahama has donated an amount of GHS1.38 million to support the conduct of elections to be held this weekend in the Party’s 138 orphan constituencies.
A statement issued by Mr Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the NDC and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said each of the Party’s 138 orphan constituencies would be receiving GHS10,000.00
It said the Party was most grateful to the former President for his continuous support for the great NDC.
Election to select Regional Officers will be held at the end of this month, whiles the national executive’s election will take place on December 17.
Aspirants for the national executive positions will be required to pick nomination forms from October 20 to October 21, complete the forms within two weeks and file their nominations between November 5 and November 6.
The vetting will take place on November 9 and November 10.
The donation is seen by political analysts as a statement of intent to tell the party that he [Mahama] is the man with the cash to fund the 2024 election.
Despite losing the last two successive elections to President Akufo-Addo, Mr Mahama is widely tipped to lead the NDC in the 2024 election and most people are doing everything to catch his attention
