Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama, has vowed to use his leadership experience to rescue Ghana from its current economic challenges if given the mandate in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to chiefs and supporters in Nalerigu/Gambaga in the Northeast Region, Mahama expressed deep concern about the state of the country, citing debt crises and rising costs of living.

“Ghana is in crisis. The nation I handed over to the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has not progressed, and today our country is in shambles—facing a debt crisis, and the energy crisis is starting again,” Mahama stated.

He criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for abandoning critical infrastructure projects and promised to complete initiatives such as the Agenda 111 hospitals and also to rescue the economy of Ghana.

Mahama also pledged to provide the six newly created regions with key infrastructure, including public universities, modern sports stadiums, and regional hospitals.

“Six new regions were created, and in our manifesto, we have promised that all the new regions will have the necessary infrastructure to raise the standard of life for the people,” Mahama assured.

He added that his administration would prioritize stabilizing the economy to make life more affordable for Ghanaians.
