Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has vowed to give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a stiff competition in their strongholds in the 2024 general elections.

He stated that the NDC mostly rely on votes from zongo and muslim communities; which they claim to be their strongholds.

Addressing delegates in the Oti region, Dr. Bawumia noted that the fact that is also a born and bred zongo boy will demystify the NDC’s long held and widely trumpeted propaganda that NPP is anti-zongo should he emerge as flagbearer of the ruling party.

“People in the zongo communities say they doubt that the NPP will ever make Dr. Bawumia the flag bearer for the upcoming 2024 General elections.

However, if they do bring Bawumia, we will vote massively for him. Thus, the NDC will loose massively in their two strongholds, the North and the zongo communities, should Bawumia emerge as flag bearer.

I will also win more votes for the NPP in the Volta Region. Therefore, I will shake all their strongholds.

That is why they (NDC) do not want Dr. Bawumia to emerge as the flagbearer. Because they know that as flagbearer, I will give them a showdown in their strongholds”

Dr. Bawumia is on a 3 day campaign tour in the Oti region, as part of his extensive outreach to New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituents at the grassroots level, following the Super Delegates Conference of the party.

Dr. Bawumia’s resounding success in the Super Delegates Conference, where he secured approximately two-thirds (68%) of the valid votes, has positioned him as a leading contender for the NPP’s flagbearer race in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Displaying unwavering determination, Dr. Bawumia is actively re-engaging with the party’s foundational base, leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of the flagbearer position.
