Leader of Government Business and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Ghana, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has been voted Acting Vice-Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
He contested the position with CPA New Zealand branch representative Hon. Gerry Brownlee.
The voting of the CPA Acting Vice-Chairperson was undertaken in accordance with Article 21(6) of the CPA Constitution.
This allows for a simple majority vote to take place by email ballot of the Executive Committee Members in the absence of a formal meeting.
After the voting, the Majority leader in Parliament polled 16 votes while Hon. Gerry Brownlee polled 6 votes.
A release by the CPA Secretariat confirmed the Majority leader as the CPA Acting Vice-Chairperson and indicated the Association is looking forward to welcoming him at the upcoming Executive Committee Meeting sometime in September.
