The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the resumption of re-collation of results in specific constituencies amidst heightened security measures.
To ensure the safety and integrity of the process, the Ghana Armed Forces and the Police Service will collaborate to maintain order and prevent disruptions.
The deployment of the military was announced by National Election Security Task Force on Friday, December 20.
According to the Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service and spokesperson for the election security task force, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, following the tensions surrounding the collation and declaration of election results, security agencies have been tasked with creating a conducive environment for the EC to carry out its duties without interference.
The EC’s re-collation of results aims to address disputes and anomalies identified in certain constituencies.
EC officials have assured stakeholders of their commitment to upholding democratic principles and called on all political parties and their supporters to remain calm and cooperative during this period.
Meanwhile, the public has been urged to avoid gatherings near collation centres to prevent unnecessary confrontations and allow security personnel to effectively manage the situation.
