The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has declared its intention to protest against government’s proposed 1.75% E-levy.
According to the Association, it has become imperative to register its total displeasure against the levy because it is very regressive and critical to the survival of the Mobile Money business.
A statement issued by the Association said the demonstration will come off on Thursday 23rd December, 2022.
“As an Association that implements all Mobile Money policies through our operators, we see this levy as very regressive and critical to the survival of our businesses.”
“Consequently, as part of our demonstration on Thursday, December 23, 2021, our services as Mobile Money Agents will not be accessible across the country,” the statement.
The Association indicates that all agents will participate in the industrial action hence all mobile money outlets will remain dosed.
The statement warned if all efforts remain futile, the Association will, thereafter, embark on an indefinite action to back its demand.
