Government commits to preserve the Ghanaian identity-Minister

Mr Francis Antwi Owusu, the Bono East Regional Minister has assured the government readiness to enrich the nation’s diverse culture and tradition to preserve the Ghanaian identity.

As the embodiment of the people, and custodian of tradition, he said local authorities, including chiefs and queens, would be empowered to preserve the diverse culture and traditional heritage.

The Regional Minister gave the assurance when he addressed a parade of school children at the 68th Independence Anniversary celebration at Techiman, the regional capital.

Mr Owusu indicated that promoting tradition and culture would safeguard the nation’s identity, and commended traditional authorities for promoting and preserving culture and tradition of the nation.

“Tradition and culture enrich tourism, festivals, local businesses, food, clothes and the environment,” he stated and lauded efforts of the chiefs and queens of the Techiman Traditional Area in promoting environmental sustainability.

Touching on the theme for the celebration “Reflect, Review and Reset,” Mr Owusu called on the people of the region to cherish and protect the prevailing peace of the region, urging students to also learn hard to achieve high academic laurels.

The event attended by traditional authorities, was spiced with traditional displays, dancing, and poetry recitals.
