Re-elected Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has slammed the motive behind the changes in the leadership of the Minority early this year.
The changes by the then newly elected national executive, he said, were targeted at him.
“I can tell you it was part of the strategy to get me out,” the Asawase MP stated after he clinched victory in NDC’s primaries on Saturday, May 13.

“No political person who is mature will not say that was part of the strategy to get me out.”
He argued that while Haruna Iddrisu was going unopposed in Tamale South, Dr Avedzi was no longer standing for re-election.
“I was the only one who had a contender, so to have done that at that time was part of the strategy to get me out.”
“But as I keep saying God is not their village chief [and] He doesn’t hate people because you hate them. God doesn’t dislike people because you dislike them. He looks at our hearts.”
Muntaka was replaced as Minority Chief Whip by Governs Kwame Agbodza while the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and Deputy Minority Leader, Dr James Klutse Avedzi, were replaced by Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Emmanuel Armah-Buah respectively.
He was challenged in Saturday’s primaries by Masawudu Mubarick, who polled 735 votes as against the 1,063 garnered by the incumbent, who expressed pride in his work for the Asawase Constituency.
