Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankumah, the Flagbearer for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has officially confirmed Mr. Joseph Kwadwo Afari-Yeboah as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Okere constituency in the Eastern Region.
This announcement was made during a rally in Adukrom, where she launched the candidate’s campaign and rallied support for the entire party.
In her address, Nana Kumankumah emphasized that the CPP’s policies were designed to secure a prosperous future for the people by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities through initiatives like “Agro-sure” and “GhanaBa shares.”
She urged voters to vote for the CPP during election day and highlighted the party’s commitment to the constituency’s development and well-being, saying, “When the party is voted into power it will bring government at your doorstep.”
The CPP, founded on the principles of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, advocates for socialist policies aimed at enhancing social and economic justice in Ghana.
In the lead-up to the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, the party’s flagbearer articulated a transformative vision for the agricultural sector through the introduction of the Agro-Sure Programme.
The Agro-Sure Programme is designed to revolutionize traditional peasant farming by organizing it into an industrial-scale agriculture framework.
This aims to ensure that farmers are not only able to cultivate their land more effectively but also secure a stable market for their produce.
Under this programme, the government would guarantee the purchase of all farm outputs, thereby promoting food security across the nation.
She explained that GhanaBa shares would also empower 20 million Ghanaians with 20,000 Ghana cedis in shares to invest in businesses of their choice or cooperatives.
“The neglected everyday petty trader will be transformed into a formal shareholder for quality living,” she stated.
Nana Kumankumah stated that if elections could reach every Ghanaian at polling stations, then government services could too, and that this initiative would serve as a direct link to the presidency and all government functions.
Meanwhile, Mr. Afari-Yeboah assured constituents that a starch factory would be established, given that cassava is primarily produced in the constituency.
He noted that the initiative would not only boost local employment and enhance economic development but also add value to locally sourced products.
According to him, several countries needed large quantity of starch to thaw snow so when such a factory is opened, it would contribute to economic growth.
“If I’m voted for, I will ensure that the outlined policies of CPP are carried out in the constituency,” he added.
