The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced the closure of some roads in Accra as part of the commemoration of the 39th National Farmers’ Day (NFD) Celebration, scheduled for Friday, December 1, 2023.
The celebration will involve a 5-Day Agricultural Fair, “Agrifest Ghana 2023,” taking place in Accra from Monday, November 27 to Friday, December 1.
The designated area for the fair includes the Ministerial enclave, starting from the Ridge Roundabout through the Principal Streets of Parliament House, Independence Square, the John Evans Atta Mills Court Complex, to the Principal Streets of the National Theatre.
The affected area for the closure spans from the Starlet 91 road to the National Theatre traffic light.
A statement issued by the Agriculture Ministry indicates, however, that exclusive official passes will be granted to specific vehicles, including those of Ministers, Head of Civil Service, Auditor General, Controller and Accountant General, Deputy Ministers, Chief Directors, and Directors, allowing access to the blocked areas and their respective offices.
“Affected government institutions’ staff and clients are requested to park at either Independence Square or Afua Sutherland Park. The Ghana Police Service will be deployed to ensure the security of vehicles parked in these designated areas,” the statement said.
The Ministry apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the road closure and encourages the public.
