The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has indicated that its parliamentary and presidential primaries will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Saturday, May 6 had earlier been widely reported as date on which the primaries will be held.
But at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, January 18, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey announced that the primaries to elect the candidates for the 2024 general elections will be held a week later.
The nomination and filing fees, however, remain the same.
The nomination forms will be picked at GH¢30,000 for presidential candidates and filed at GH¢500,000.
Parliamentary candidates will pick them at GH¢5,000 and file them at GH¢40,000.
The nominations will open from Monday, February 22 to Wednesday, February 24.
Interested aspirants will be given between Monday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 22 to file their forms.
Vetting is scheduled to take place from Monday, March 27 to Wednesday, March 29 after which results will be made known.
Aspirants with grievances will have up to Thursday, April 6 to appeal any decisions from the vetting committee after which the primaries will be held.
