Ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is conducting a listening survey among its delegates to determine the preferred running mate for former President John Dramani Mahama.

The survey allowed delegates to express their choices for the potential vice-presidential candidate from a selection of prominent NDC figures.

The candidates included in the survey are as follows:

Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang

Hon. Julius Debrah

Hon. Spio Garbrah

Hon. Sylvester Mensah

Hon. Joshua Alabi

The survey aimed to gauge the delegates’ opinions and preferences regarding the most suitable running mate to accompany John Mahama in the 2024 elections. Each candidate possesses an extensive political background and experience within the NDC.

Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang, a former Minister of Education and the first female running mate in the history of Ghana’s major political parties stands as a prominent contender.

Hon. Julius Debrah, a former Chief of Staff during Mahama’s presidency, also emerged as a strong potential candidate.

Hon. Spio Garbrah, a seasoned politician with vast experience in various governmental roles, and Hon. Sylvester Mensah, a former Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority, are also among the candidates vying for the position.

Lastly, Hon. Joshua Alabi, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, and a renowned politician, completes the list of contenders.

The outcome of the public listening survey will serve as an essential factor in determining the NDC’s final decision on its vice-presidential candidate.

The party leadership values the opinions of its delegates and is committed to selecting a running mate who complements John Mahama’s vision and ideals for Ghana’s future.

As the 2024 general elections approach, the selection of the most suitable running mate will significantly impact the NDC’s chances in the electoral race.

The party remains focused on presenting a united front and pursuing a vision that resonates with the aspirations of the Ghanaian people.

Anticipation remains high among party members and supporters eager to see who will be chosen to partner John Mahama on the NDC ticket for the upcoming elections.
