The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate of John Dramani Mahama for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
The announcement marks a pivotal moment for the party as it gears up for a highly anticipated electoral battle.
A statement by NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the selection of Professor Opoku-Agyemang reflects the party’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and the empowerment of women in leadership positions.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang, an academic and former Minister for Education, is celebrated for her unwavering dedication to education and her notable achievements in public service.
Her historic tenure as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast has set her apart as a pioneering figure for women in leadership within Ghana.
The party’s flag bearer, John Mahama, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “I am proud to have Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as my running mate.”
