President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, launched the DRIP and commissioned essential equipment at Black Star Square.

The programme, aimed at enhancing the country’s road network, marks a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to decentralize development and improve the quality of life for Ghanaians.

Madam Abena Kwesiwa Kyei, the Municipal Coordinating Director, in an address on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Jennifer Dede Adjabeng expressed gratitude to the people for availing themselves to support the programme.

She mentioned that the launch, and advent of the DRIP equipment was a good omen for the Municipality, especially the good people of Danfa and its surrounding communities in view of the enormous difference it was set to make in the socioeconomic lives of the people.

Madam Kyei stressed that the assembly sees the arrival of the equipment as an opportune time to restore the road to its desired status to boost economic activity and flow of social connectivity in the municipality.

According to her, the Assembly would redouble its efforts to ensure that deplorable roads within the Municipality were fixed.

Mr Lamptey on his part said it was morally incumbent, in view of the urgency of the situation, to join forces with the MCE to deploy the equipment to address road situations that have long called for urgent attention.

He mentioned that many concerned citizens including chiefs, drivers and many inhabitants have had the just cause to complain about the bad state of some trunk roads which were commercially viable, adding that with the arrival of the equipment, the situation would soon be addressed.

The PC said it had become necessary to deploy this equipment to areas such as Ayi Mensah, Kweiman, Danfa, Otinibi, and Addoteiman in view of the distressed calls and legitimate concerns being raised by the good people of these communities.

He thanked the people for their moral support while urging them to remain hopeful that the challenge would be addressed to enhance the well-being of the people.

Nii Adzei Kweidzamansah IV, Chief of Otinibi called on the people to give their full cooperation and support to the project since it has been well thought of to bring facelift to most deplorable roads in the country.

He assured the people that the equipment had been allocated permanently to the municipality for use in the improvement of all road situations, adding “all that we had to do was to request for the equipment for such purposes.”

He, however, cautioned the relevant authorities not to lay blame at the doorstep of the people, if they fail to live up to their words, and the tide turns against them in the scheme of things.

Nii Kweidzamansah said they (chiefs and people) would be watching keenly on the assurance to tackle the challenge, and hoped the authorities would live up to expectation.

He expressed gratitude to the PC for the continuous developmental effort in the area, adding that the youth would throw their weight behind him in his bid to become a Member of Parliament.
