Mr Boahen announced that the National Health Insurance Authority had included the cost of dialysis to its benefits package to cushion renal patients of the cost incurred in accessing health care.

He emphasised that extending coverage to include renal treatment services would significantly ease the financial strain experienced by patients.

Mr Boahen appealed to the NHIS staff to work extra hard for the Region to achieve its 2024-year target since the performance by the Region for the half year was not encouraging.

The Regional Director applauded the Executive Management of the Authority for including Family Planning and the four childhood cancers to the Scheme’s Benefits package.

“Just this week, the Authority launched NHIS Free Preventive Health care, where Ghanaians aged 18 and above will be given the opportunity to go for Free Medical Checkup on his or her birthday.

According to him, the said Checkup would cover, sugar level, BP, Weight, among others, adding, “We know NHIS for health care delivery, but this time we are adding Preventive Health care to our Benefits package.”

Mr Boahen assured the various District offices of the Region that he was working around the clock for all the vacant positions in the various districts to be filled.

The Regional operations manager Mr Kofi Baffour Asare and the Regional Administration manager, Mr Eric Amoako and some selected staff from the various districts in the region attended the meeting.
