The Ghanaian Publisher can authoritatively say that Ghana’s former Ambassador to China and Business mogul Edward Boateng has disappeared from the impending NPP chairman race as the campaign begins to gather momentum.
His absence from party events especially the ongoing regional conferences has been noticed by party members who have started to pay attention and they’re asking questions about the former Ambassador’s seriousness.
While interested national executives aspirants including Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Stephen Ayensu Ntim and Prof Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi have taken advantage of the regional conferences to re-establish contact with the base of the party, but Ambassador Edward Boateng, has kept his distance.
But a Special Aide to the celebrated businessman and Media Moguel, Godfred Kharty says Mr Edward Boateng is still in the chairmanship race though he is doing things differently.
Mr. Edward Boateng has opted to ignore personal interactions, a critical requirement to enhance his relationship with the base of the party and also hear some of their views on development within the party and how those issues can be addressed but Mr. Kharty insists Mr Boateng is being strategic and very calculative in his approach.
‘You know Mr. Edward Boateng is a man of strategy and will always put strategy first in every endeavour but at the appropriate time his presence will be felt,” he added
An article posted on Wontumionline in April this year by Kakra Nunu about Mr. Edward Boateng’s intentions read:
“As the struggle for a befitting person to replace Chairman Blay as NPP National Chairman many names have popped out but I bring to you the befitting and rightful person. All this while I have kept quiet seriously scrounging for a non-contestable replacement for Chairman Blay and finally, I have settled on the man who is above all standards, political, economic and commerce to take the position of National Chairman of NPP.”
In the view of the article, this man has supported NPP in diverse ways notably financial support. He is the CEO of Happy Fm, YFm, CNN Director West Africa. And Ghana’s former Ambassador to China. This man in question is one of the billionaires in Africa.
“In fact, it was a tussle to convince him to come and take the National Chairmanship of NPP. This fine man expressed concerns about the gutter nature of some politicians who just muddy people’s reputation in the guise of politics but finally he has agreed to take the mantle because he has the zeal to help the grassroots of NPP to reap what they have sown in the party. Fellow NPPs, with felicitation, let’s welcome and endorse Mr Edward Boateng, and vote massively for him to become the National Chairman of the NPP” it added.
Edward is the ultimate and befitting choice amongst others to replace Chairman Blay because, in our quest to break the 8, we need a business tycoon who is abreast in political party management to be paired with Chairman Wontumi of Ashanti Region to merge resources to break the 8, the article noted.
The NPP will begin the election of party leaders from polling stations to national next year towards their determination to win the 2024 election to break the cycle of two terms which is becoming a norm in the Fourth Republic.
