Akuapem The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed the Akuapem South parliamentary primary, which was initially scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024.

This decision comes in the wake of petitions that have been received by the party, necessitating a delay for further consultations.

According to a statement released by Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the NPP, the postponement was influenced by recommendations from both the constituency and regional executive committees.

The leadership of the party believes that this decision will allow for comprehensive consultations to address the concerns raised in the petitions.

The NPP has not yet announced a new date for the primary but assures its members that it is working diligently to resolve the issues at hand.

The Akuapem South constituency parliamentary primary was hit with confusion when the sitting member of Parliament, Osei Bonsu Amoah withdrew from the race citing several reasons.

The MP was not pleased the Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem was being allowed to contest him contrary to party guidelines which stipulate that MCEs who wish to contest for Parliamentary seats should vacate their positions.

Justin Kodua thanked party members for their ongoing commitment and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective effort in the party’s activities.

“We continue to rely on your unflinching commitment and cooperation,” he stated, assuring party members that their concerns are being taken seriously.
