The National Chairman of our great Party, Mr Stephen Ayensu Ntim has set up an Election Review Committee to investigate the NPP’s 2024 calamitous defeat.
It is amazing that, Mr Ntim’s led executive is pretending not to know why we lost so badly. Our woes deepen when Asylum Down is behaving as if we are a bunch of idiots.
We are not! We do not need a committee to invistigate why we lost. We know why we lost. We should be humble and smart to admit these mistakes and fix them asap; and not waste resources to investigate what is already known.
Let me bring to the attention of Mr Ntim and and his lazy, pretentious team some of the reasons why we were shamefully defeated by INCOMPETENT JM and the NDC.
Unpopular government policies
These include the construction of the ill fated National Catheral, E-Levy, persistent depreciation of the cedi, incurred a whopping 742 billion Ghana cedis public debt, COVID levy, cancellation of NABCO, 1 village 1 dam fiasco, deliberately weakened MMDAs, electricity and water tariffs got increased in October, fuel prices were increased a day to elections, etc
Wide spread allegations of corruption
Arrogance of power – Government became unreceptive to the concerns of the people. Failed to appreciate the anger of the people.
Nepotism – NADAA run an oligarchic government. Most appointees of his government were controlled by NADAA’s inner circle. Cabinet was a rubber stamp.
NADAA stubbornly refused to reshuffle his clumsy cabinet despite repeated calls by most Ghanaians, including NPP members to do so. Infact, he ungentlemanly labelled those calling for the reshuffle as “job seekers” or seeking to “destabilize” his government. His favourite cousin Gabby publicly ridiculed persons who demanded for the reshuffle on social media.
“It is as if a reshuffle will suddenly end the war in Ukraine, bring down inflation and make the cedi stronger than the dollar,” Gabby wrote.
NADAA obstinately kept his cousin, Ken Ofori Atta as Finance Minister when it was clear that he virtually destroyed Ghana’s economy. The 90 MPs were not unintelligent when they made a direct appeal to the President to remove his cousin as Finance Minister. The economy got worst until Dr Amin took over.
DMB was totally sidelined! His expertise was ignored. He was mostly not consulted on many issues on the the economy. KOA was the boss and powerfully so.
Non payment of stipends for NABCO recruits, National Service personnel, Forest Guards, School feeding caterers, Teacher and Nursing Training allowances gravely affected us. Ken bluntly refused to approve these payments.
Poor management of the Party – The Ntim led National Executive has been a disaster. They failed outrightly as the lead management and supervising body of the party. They must resign en bloc to make way for an interim body to take charge until fresh elections are held.
Lack of opportunities for our party officers, volunteers, youth, and women – Jubilee House and Asylum Down were like enemies. They operated without cordiality and without a detailed proposal to keep our base economically viable.
Some government appointees became so powerful and cheeky. In the just ended campaign, most of us did not campaign for the Party. Party leadership and government knew about this.
