Mr Kamal-Deen Abdulai, spokesperson to Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, National Chairman, hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said promoting unity within the Party remained the prime priority of his candidate.
He said Mr Ntim considered unity the only way through to the gleaming goal of retaining political power.
Mr Abdulai was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ho after the candidate had met delegates and party executives as part of a regional tour ahead of the July elections.
He said Mr Ntim sought to redirect the leadership even at the base level towards the quest for Party wide unity.
“He’s strengthened on the message of unity, and he has always said that without bringing ourselves together and harnessing our votes and getting the support base to go beyond apathy, breaking the eight would be a mirage.
So, he is focusing on unity, he is focusing on leadership of purpose to ensure that all hands on deck. Every single polling station that we have in this country, it is his focus to see the party being united at that level.”
Mr Abdulai noted the straight resolve to uphold the Constitution of the party, and to cement the tenets of equity.
“He has also mentioned that there must be supremacy of the constitution of the New Patriotic Party. His point is that, whatever provision in the Constitution that has to do with our arrangements, he would not go against it. He would ensure that levelled playground is given when it comes to the presidential elections and the primaries that we have ahead of us,” he said.
The spokesperson relayed the enthusiasm of winning the position, noting his persistent attempts and the reflecting consistency and leadership vision.
“He’s been pursuing this for 20 years now and this would be his fifth time contesting, and we are very hopeful that the reception that we have been given, and then of course the delegates what they have been saying, this time round, it is his time.
“We have had a very warm reception in the Volta Region, and we have no doubt that he is indeed going to emerge the ultimate winner come the 15th of July 2022,”
The candidate met delegates and executives in the Southern Sector of the Region, and is headed towards districts in the northern sections, which includes Kpando and Hohoe.
