The scheduled meeting between the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service and the Minority in Parliament regarding the OccupyBoG Protest by National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament has been cancelled.

Originally set for Friday, September 8, at 2:00 pm, the meeting aimed to determine the protest route for the NDC MPs on Tuesday’s planned demonstration.

The Accra Regional Command had previously rejected the proposed route from the Minority during the first notice, which was initially scheduled for Tuesday, September 5.

As a result, the Police Service filed an injunction application, which is still pending in an Accra High Court.

In the midst of this legal process, the Minority issued a new notice for the same protest, set to take place on Tuesday, September 12.

Nevertheless, the meeting intended to reach a mutual agreement on the protest route was cancelled.

The Minority, along with support from civil society organizations, intends to proceed with the OccupyBoG protest on Tuesday, demanding the resignation of Dr. Ernest Yedu Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and his two deputies. The caucus maintains that the protest on Tuesday will proceed as planned.

Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza, remarked, “You can even protest in front of the White House today, and people do it on a daily basis. Is the Bank of Ghana requiring more security than the front of the Flagstaff House or Parliament?”
