On Sunday, many Ghanaians woke up to the bizarre news of a middle-aged man being mauled to death by a lion at the Accra Zoo at Achimota.
This according to reports is because the victim allegedly scaled the fence into the enclosure of lions.
The incident has since triggered a police investigation into the matter and the subsequent closure of the facility to the public.
In 2019, a man was mauled to death by his own captive lions in a game reserve in South Africa.
The victim was named by local media as Leon van Biljon as he attempted to fix a broken fence in the lion enclosure.
In the Ghanaian case, the story sounds somewhat bizarre and one that triggers a lot of questions.
