The government is set to deploy over 500 soldiers to Bawku in the Upper East Region to help deal with rising insecurity in the region.
The decision follows a working visit to the area by a delegation comprising National Security Coordinator, Edward Asomani and Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah.
Others include the Chief of the Army Staff, and heads of other state security and intelligence agencies.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bawku, Amadu Hamza disclosed the mandate of the task force will help deal with the influx of Burkinabes into the country as a result of the insurgency in that country.
The deployment of the over 500 soldiers follows the death of one immigration officer in Bawku on April 3.
The motive for the attack remains unclear; there have been no claims of responsibility yet.
