Welcoming the new member in his remarks, Minority leader Dr Casiel Ato Forson urged him to emulate the good traits of the former MP, the Hon. Philip Basoah who was friend almost to everyone across the divide.

According to him, Basoah exhibited competence in his duties and responsibilities and expressed hope Hon Yaw Enim will emulate him.

He urged the new MP to also settle in quickly and take up the task for which he was elected to represent the people of Kumawu.

Majority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in his remarks, praised the conduct of the Kumawu by-election as very free and fair and devoid of and violence.

He expressed hope the impending by-election in the Assin North constituency will also be held a similar atmosphere of peace.

The Majority leader reminded the the new member to study the Constitution and the Standing Orders because these are tools that helps parliamentarians in the discharge of their duties.

In the Kumawu by-election Ernest Yaw Anim garnered an impressive 15,264 votes, and outperformed his competitors: Kwasi Amankwaa from the National Democratic Congress and two Independent Candidates, both named Kwaku Duah.

Amankwaa secured 3,723 votes, while Kwaku Duah (1) received 2,478 votes. The other Kwaku Duah managed only 62 votes.

The by-election was conducted following the unfortunate passing of the former MP, Philip Basoah, who succumbed to a short illness at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
