Mr Seidu Tia Karim, the Parliamentary Candidate of the People’s National Congress (PNC) for the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency has called on electorates in the constituency to give him the mandate to represent them as their Member of Parliament in the upcoming general elections.

He said his tenure as a Member of Parliament would prioritise the needs of the people as he intends to implement human-centred policies in the areas of agriculture, healthcare, education, and employment, among others to advance the development of the area.

Mr Karim made the call during a parliamentary dialogue session organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Gambaga in the North East Region.

The parliamentary candidates for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), however, boycotted the dialogue session despite being invited and reminded by the NCCE.

The PNC Parliamentary candidate said when given the nod, he would work with an Indian farming company to provide seven tractors for every zone in the constituency, provide health centres for every community, and liaise with a plastic company to employ over one thousand youth, including literates and non-literates.

Mr Abdulai Abdul Mugis,  East Mamprusi Municipal Director of the NCCE, in his welcome address, indicated that the essence of the dialogue was to provide a platform for the parliamentary candidates to share their visions for the constituency with the electorates.

He stressed the need for peaceful elections to sustain the development of the area and the country’s democratic gains.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ASP), Cephas Arthur, Divisional Commander of the East Mamprusi Municipality, said it was important the political parties conducted their campaigns in a manner that would not disrupt the peace of the constituency.

He assured that the police were ready to maintain law and order for a free and fair election.
