The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has extended his support to victims of the devastating fire at Adum PZ in Kumasi, providing financial assistance and building materials to aid in their recovery.

During a visit on Wednesday Hon. Boamah donated GH¢50,000 and 200 bags of cement toward the reconstruction of the affected market.

He assured the victims of his continued commitment, promising an additional GH¢50,000 once rebuilding efforts commence.

“I am here to sympathize with you over this unfortunate incident and discuss how we can collaborate to rebuild the market. I understand that about 10,000 people trade here, and in times like these, we must support one another,” he said.

The MP emphasized that his contribution was not for personal recognition but purely to assist in the recovery process. He also urged recipients to ensure the funds are used appropriately.

“I plead with you to maintain the spirit of unity and use these resources for their intended purpose,” he added.

The Adum PZ fire, which destroyed numerous shops and properties, has left many traders struggling to rebuild their livelihoods.

Hon. Boamah’s intervention has been welcomed as a crucial step toward restoring business operations in the area.

While in Kumasi, the Okaikwei Central legislator also attended the Ghana Premier League clash between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He was accompanied by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of Kotoko, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, and Mr. Bernard Nana Yaw Amofo.

Following Kotoko’s narrow 1-0 victory on Wednesday, Hon. Boamah expressed concerns over the dwindling attendance at the club’s matches, describing it as a worrying trend that threatens the legacy and reputation of the historic football team.
